Grand Strand Story Network
Community Story Award Support Invitation
Preserving the stories that shaped our coast — together.
The Grand Strand Story Network exists to collect, preserve, and share real stories from the people who have lived, worked, vacationed, and grown up along the Grand Strand.
These stories are the living memory of our community — the moments, places, and experiences that shaped families, friendships, and generations.
To encourage and honor these voices, the Network hosts a Monthly Community Story Award.
This is not a marketing campaign or a promotional contest.
It is a community storytelling tradition designed to recognize and thank individuals who share meaningful memories connected to our coast.
🌊 What Is the Community Story Award?
Each month, starting March 1, 2026, one submitted story is selected and featured within the Grand Strand Story Network.
The selected storyteller receives a Story Award as a thank-you for helping preserve local memory. The award is a gesture of appreciation and encouragement — not a commercial prize.
Stories are chosen based on:
• Authentic lived experience
• Emotional connection to the Grand Strand
• Contribution to preserving local memory and culture
The focus is always on real voices and real memories, not professional writing or polished submissions.
🏆 How the Story Award Is Funded
The Community Story Award is made possible through the support of local businesses and organizations that believe community stories matter.
Supporters contribute by becoming monthly supporters of the Grand Strand Story Network. A portion of that support is directed into a shared Story Award Fund, which allows the Network to thank one storyteller each month.
No business sponsors a specific story, prize, or individual.
Support is given to the mission as a whole, and the Story Award is simply one expression of that shared commitment to community storytelling.
This structure ensures:
• The storyteller remains the focus
• The award remains a community thank-you, not a promotion
• Supporters are aligned with preserving local history, not advertising
🧭 What Business Support Represents
When a business supports the Grand Strand Story Network, they are not purchasing ad placement tied to a contest.
They are helping:
• Preserve the living history of the Grand Strand
• Encourage residents and visitors to share meaningful memories
• Build a community archive that future generations can discover
• Keep storytelling rooted in belonging rather than commercialization
Supporters become part of the foundation that allows local voices to be heard and remembered.
❤️ Why This Matters
Communities are more than buildings and businesses.
They are built from shared experiences — the music, the summers, the boardwalks, the family trips, the first jobs, and the lifelong friendships.
Those memories fade if they are not collected.
The Grand Strand Story Network exists to make sure they are not lost.
The Community Story Award is one small but meaningful way we say to a storyteller:
Your memory matters. Your story belongs here.
🌅 A Shared Commitment
This is not about brand exposure.
It is about standing behind something meaningful.
Support the stories, and the community will know what kind of business you are.
